हिवाळा आणि वाचन

हा हा म्हणता लंडन मध्ये येऊन आता १० महिने होवुन गेले. आणि आता it's the beginning of the famous English summer. ह्या विषयी आधी खुप ऐकले होते. खुप बोअरींग असते आणि थंडीची सवय नसल्यामुळे शरिराची पण हालत होते. त्याची प्रचिती येवु लागली आहे. विकडेस कसे जातात हे जरी कामाच्या धबडग्यात कळत नसले तरी विकेडंस जरा बोरींगच असतात. सध्या इंटरनेट आणि वाचन हया वर भर आहे. नुकतेच अनिल बर्वे ह्यांचे "११ कोटी गँलन पाणी" हे पुस्तक वाचले. जवळ जवळ १२ वर्षांनंतर त्यांचे पुस्तक वाचले. It's typical Anil Barve type book! excellent..!!
जवळ जवळ १२ वर्षांनंतर त्यांचे पुस्तक वाचले. त्यामुळे पुर्ण झाल्याशिवाय काही खाली ठेवले गेले नाही. पुलं च देखिल एक पुस्तक आणले आहे. त्यांच्या विविध भाषणांचा संग्रह आहे. पुलंचा नाटक, चित्रपट इत्यादी कलाविषयक क्षेत्रांमध्ये त्यांचे किती विपुल ज्ञान होते ह्याची प्रचिती हे पुस्तक वाचतांना येते.
ह्या पुस्तकांविषयी पुन्हा कधितरी....

"Aaja Nachale"- Good Movie!!

Yesterday, I watched "Aaja Nachale"- comeback movie of Madhuri! I was wondering why critics have given such a bad rating to it. I must say that it's a good movie based on the great concept with some great performance of actors and good presentation.

Apart from commercial things- art, drama, theater are equally important in life. This is the central theme of this movie. It's a story of the fight between 2 worlds- on one side, there are people from commercial, political, selfish world and on other side, there are people who love and enjoy art, music, theater, drama. It has been presented well with the canvas of musical drama in the end. The performances of each actor are good without the wastage of anyone's acting talent. The overall presentation is good.

The best part is the presence of Madhuri throughout the movie. There are very few actors who can carry movie single handedly. Madhuri is one such actor. She is equally stunning as she used to be in 90's. Her fans should be relaxed to the same old Madhuri with her charming face & smile, stunning dance performances and talented acting. She looks little old and matured but still looks very charming!

Don't look at critics comments and go and enjoy this movie to some good performances and stunning Madhuri.

Happy Bday (originally posted on 11th Oct)

After taking a long break of 2 months, I have started blogging again! That doesn't mean that nothing has happened in my life. But it was local laziness that had creeped inside my body.

It's always a great feeling to share your B'day with the famous personality and I am not the exception. I share B'day with big B!! So- just 4 days before, I celebrated my 28th B'day! Well- it's another B'day- but still important one as the first B'day I celebrated away from mother land!!

I feel like becoming matured. It's the journey of late twenties which makes you remember your duties, your responsibilities. It is said that a Cricketer becomes matured at the age of 28! I guess - it's true. I am not the Cricketer but I can feel the saying.

Hope- that I will remember my duties and responsibilities forever and always live upto my own expectations. I guess that's the best gift I can give it to myself..

Battle begins tomorrow!

Lords test is beginning tomorrow. Probably, this would be the last time when TRIO of modern Indian Cricket will play at Lords. More than that- the master will appear for the last time here. He hasn’t got a triple figure here yet- I mean not in a test match. (He has got in the one day match which was played between MCC and The rest of the World)

True Champion..

Hats off to Federer!

Wow! What a match it was! Federer again proved it why he is called champion of champions. He won Wimbledon tournament 5th time in a row equaling the record of another great player- Bjorn Borg.

The match was a treat to watch for a true tennis lover. Wimbledon final and if is 5 setter then it’s a real feast! Nadal was equally good but little inexperienced than Federer and that’s what costed him in the end.

I used to follow Wimbledon very closely. It’s rainy season in India. After school, we school friends used to play tennis using our palms. We used to fight like real players. We used to consider ourselves like Agassi, Baker or Sampras. It’s fun time!

Today’s match brought all these sweet memories.

Kudos to Nadal and Hats off to Federer! All the best for the next Wimbledon title to create history..

London and Mumbai

I moved to London about 4 months back. Now- the initial honeymoon period is over and it has become the daily routine.

London in many sense is similar to our own Mumbai- Tube reminds our local trains, Buses reminds me of our BEST buses. People are always in hurry similar to Mumbai. The system is also similar in many cases. But there are no short cuts in the system. This is the main difference what we have there and what advance countries. There is one process for everything and one has to follow that and can't really change it. That helps in keeping curses like corruption and bribery in control. That's the main advantage. Though- sometimes few system seem very stupid and ordinary e.g. their National Health system.

It's encouraging to see the economic progress our country has seen and we always feel very proud after reading about it in different medias including MaTa. At the same time- heart gets moved on after reading the sad suicides of farmers who couldn't repay their debts. It's harsh reality and counter opposite pictures of our country. I hope that our economic progress should help in encountering it. That's the one thing we should learn from advanced countries. Very ordinary man over here gets sufficient amount of money to take care of his daily expense. While in our country- it's very difficult to meet both the ends for many people. This leads to corruption, anarchy in the social system.

Hopefully, India will be economic power in coming years to eradicate this disparity. We all are positive about our future and we should be. If we don't then we can't achieve it. We all know that it's difficult task but not the impossible one. Hopefully, we will achieve it pretty soon!

There are lessons to learn from rejection!

Today, I came across one good article in FT and would like to share with you all. Though- it is related to MBA professionals, points mentioned in the article are applicable for all of us. Author has described his internship days during MBA and what mistakes he made while applying for the campus interviews.

Important takeaways from this article are:

- Prospective companies look for commitments as much as skills (this is true for the current company for which you are working.)
- People networking is important for the success. (We often have seen that more than skills, contacts or relationship matters. Companies are not the bricks and walls and they are run by people and that why understanding people, people management is most important thing. This is even true in our personal lives.
- Listen to you heart and don't follow the crowd! (This is most important thing- not just for the professional but in the personal lives too! That's why most of the CEOs always follow their gut-feeling. One has to make very tough decisions in their life.)

Can anyone feel it the pain of rejection than someone who has appeared maximum campus interviews during his MBA days? :-)

Congrats Ausies!

Today mighty Ausies proved- why they are called World Champions! Straight 3 times in a row, they have bagged the World Cup! They haven't lost a single match for the last 2 World Cups and the last time they faced defeat in the World cup was in 1999- by Pakistan in Group B match. What an amazing record!

We can learn many things from Ausies. It is an example of dedicated efforts, disciplined team work and die hard attitude to achieve the ultimate goal!

Congrats Ausies for winning the World Cup and being invincible!
